“Who is Peter Todd” comes up a lot. Not much is known except that he seems to be held in high esteem by some of the most influential BTC people, including VC’s.
The [circumstantial] evidence of Todd being Satoshi is tenuous, BUT it exists. I’m not posting direct links to some source material, you’ll have to find it yourself.
- Todd’s first post on Bitcointalk appeared on Dec 10, 2010 in a thread Satoshi was posting to. In that thread, Todd responds directly after Satoshi and his post (Todd’s) can be read as speaking for Satoshi. In other words, he may have used the wrong account for the post. Satoshi was gone immediately after (his last post ever was 3 days after this and Todd wasn’t seen again until April 26, 2012).
- Nick Szabo has recommended consulting with Peter Todd to answer questions he didn’t feel he could answer. (Twitterverse)
- Peter Todd is cited as early as Feb 28 (pre Bitcoin) by Satoshi’s earliest P2PFoundation Contacts.
- Peter Todd was one of the first people alert folks in 2014 that Satoshi’s P2P Foundation account had been hacked. He also received emails forwarded from Satoshi in 2011. (see here)
- Peter Todd had a working ledger/database with a timestamp server before Satoshi and Before Bitcoin. He called it a UUID. It was used to uniquely identify his electronic artwork.
- Todd’s Github account repositories from pre-Bitcoin include code very relevant to someone who could have developed bitcoin. Much clock and time-stamping work.
- Todd’s resume is available on the internet archive.
- Don’t bet the farm on this theory, but verify it if you wish.
- If true, his trolling of Hearn is hilarious.
