You do realize expectation is a big part of why things are so hard for us? Expectation is a big part of disappointment and dissatisfaction. That’s why depression is more common in first world countries.

Promising a starving African kid food only to tell them they’re not going to get it is far worse than just letting them starve. It’s a similar situation for a lot of us. We experience seeing people given a far better deal than us on a daily basis due to a combination of luck and genetics.
