Bike workshop

BASE’s Bike Workshop is here to help you to fix your pedal bike!

bikeOur volunteer mechanics will help you diagnose the problem, and then help you to fix it. We have a good stock of bike parts at low prices, and a large range of bike tools to use for free.

The Bike Workshop does not charge for time, effort or tool use, but does welcome donations towards its costs. Hot drinks available for 50p donation.

Please note the bike workshop can get very busy and you may have to wait to use tools and get advice – please be patient and don’t harass the hard-working volunteers. Anyone behaving in an anti-social or abusive manner will be told to leave. Thanks.

Come and have a say and get involved in the running of our social centre. Be a part of putting anarchist principles into practice! There’s always lots to discuss and organise and more participation means we can get more done. There will be food too!

Sunday Social vegan cafe

Yum Yum! BASE’s weekly Sunday Social vegan cafe features a set vegan meal cooked up by volunteers, and served up about 6.30pm…until we run out! Read more info here.

There is often a film after the dinner, at about 7.30pm; sometimes a talk or discussion; and sometimes music. There’s always plenty of people to chat with, socialise & network. You can also check out BASE’s free library (borrow a book!) and Info Shop, plus there’s loadsa free info on local campaigns & events.

We ask for a donation of approx £2.50 for starter & main, and £1 for puddings. Hot/cold drinks available for 50p. We do not turn people away who are skint – please just say so and you’ll be fed perhaps you can contribute in some other way?
We always welcome new volunteers to help cook for the cafe, and to wash up & clean up after.

Rising Up weekly social and rebellion plotting

Meet and organise action against climate change. Get involved! We intend to meet at BASE every Tuesday in Sept and Oct from 6-9pm.

On 31st Oct 2018 we’ll be declaring a rebellion – the Extinction
Rebellion! In the months leading up to it we’ll be preparing for it,
training and practicing/modelling civil disobedience. It’s fun and
meaningful, and we get to hang out with lovely and exciting people. What more could you want? Come and see what we’re all about.

We will be having dinner from 6-7pm and starting the meeting afterwards.
