The Artist At War – Free Lectures At Bristol University

Six lectures in October & November dealing with the life & work of Vaughan Williams, Rose Macauley, George Grosz, Paul Nash, Stanley Spencer, HG Wells & Lewis Milestone. The university website says:

Art and War have always gone together: as propaganda, reflection, memorialisation, opposition. Some of the greatest works of art have come out of war. This series looks at artists – writers, filmmakers, painters, musicians – who were involved in both world wars, examines what they created, and shows how their attitude towards war changed in this work.
