The Earth First! Summer Gathering started in – oh I dunno, something like the mid nineties – and is still going strong. An unrivalled range of workshops. Everything from tree climbing to food foraging, resisting extreme energy to hunt sabbing, field plumbing (!) to the pleasures and problems of being an activist and a parent, direct action and machismo to granarchy. Taking place from 28-31 August in Southwest England at an animal sanctuary and edible forest garden with non-hierarchical consensus decision making, not too mention delicious vegan and where possible organic/local food for about £20-£30. All this and a safer spaces policy too. Need I say more?
