With great pleasure and some relief I can report that the London Anarchist Bookfair will be going ahead this year as usual. After several very successful years there, it had outgrown Queen Mary College and had to look around for a new home.
This proved to be a much more difficult undertaking than expected as alternatives were explored. Kensington Town Hall, which latterly housed for the London Vegan Festival, never even bothered to reply. Perhaps that venue felt an area colonised by the super-rich wouldn’t be the most suitable location!
As time wore on and nowhere was found, the unwelcome prospect of a year without a Bookfair emerged. That would’ve been really bad news but then just as things looked bleak, step forward Central Saint Martins College in King’s Cross. I know nothing about the venue but it’s in an excellent location and I look forward to being there on 24 October.
