Staffordshire Mutual Aid Alliance (formerly known as Stoke Leftist Alliance) is a grassroots organisation formed in response to the far right rioting on the 3rd of August. The aim of the organisation is to create a space for individuals and organisations to come together to provide mutual aid to the vulnerable communities affected by the rioting.
Currently we are in the process of providing support to those affected by the Tamworth rioting and Stoke/North Staffordshire rioting.
SMAA is a decentralised, non hierachal, non partisan organisation. Decentralised means there is no central decision making/organising commitee and everyone collectively makes decisions using a consensual decision making system such as a peoples assembly, this is explicitly a form of non hierachy. We believe that everyones voice is of equal value as we can all learn from eachother and if an individual chooses so, they should have a say in facilitation of the organisation.
