2005 Frank arrives in London

HOUSES/job: September 2005 to June 2007

Frank starts renting and working as a researcer. (does that until 2007)
meets Omar at laboratory and gets friends with him quickly, spent time very often in Orin’s place, i.e. Gerard’s house.

Frank moved to London in September 2005 to start the post doctorate (full time). At university, researchers and Phds are considered workers, not students. Frank did not finish this; he quit in June/August 2007.

In the lab when working, from sept 2005, Frank made good friends very quickly with Ori.

Ori moved in a house where Gerard was living, in Tottenham.

Frank went there very often because they were good friends; he loved Ori, he was nice.
Frank’s first house was good but didn’t like some of the housemates. At the time Frank was living in Newington Green. He lived there for 6 months, then Hornsey road between Finsbury park and Holloway, for 10 months, and then moved to Gerard’s place for a few months maybe in march 2007.

Frank wanted to get involved in political stuff so went to the IWW. In the first and only meeting Frank went to, in freedom bookshop in Whitechapel, there were 3 people. It was not very welcoming or uplifting. In Frank’s eyes, there was only moaning and there was only 3 of them. Then he went to the anarchist federation meeting, also in Freedom Bookshop. There they were, the same 3 people.

2004. Frank coming to London

He didn’t really want to go to London. He preferred Barcelona, and applied there but it didn’t work. He then did interviews for two jobs: one in London and one in Uppsala, in Sweden.

Frank and another person were interviewed for these two positions, and the bosses/interviewers were friends and they decided between themselves which ones would go where.

The guy in Sweden “preferred” a German because he thinks they are square, well organised and serious, and the boss in London preferred Daniel.

In France, Frank was already involved with CNT. The main reason was that a lover and her friend were involved. The lover was/is Anarcha feminist and got Daniel interested in all that. She had a friend who was part of the CNT. Frank admired this friend and joined cnt.

In Frank’s town, there was a section in cnt, education and research, and 10, 15 of them, mostly high and secondary school.

While Frank was doing his phd, there was a big movement of researchers. (We) created a collective of young researchers, not just people of cnt, and this group was completely focused on issues of precariousness. Frank also was involved in a feminist collective and other local struggles, like around free public transport etc.
