Taken no action or taken improper action, that’s what this criticism has been about all along. It’s about situations where command has taken no action when they had a duty to act AND situations where command took negative improper action contrary to the best interests of the ASU community they are sworn to serve.
This is just one more example of “misconduct in office”. It’s one more example of how the members of the Arizona State University Police Department Command are more interested in covering their own asses than doing what needs to be done in the best interests of the community they are sworn to serve and protect. Absolutely disgraceful.
The charge of “misconduct in office” is broad, and encompasses conduct that includes malfeasance, where someone knowing commits a crime, misfeasance, where someone “does a lawful act in a wrongful manner” and nonfeasance, where someone fails to act when required by their job.
This is a nonfeasance in office issue that puts everyone at the ASU community at risk. How long as this been happening? Why was nothing done? The one thing we are certain of is that this commander will have plenty of excuses for his inaction that will be less than truthful.

They don’t know where keys are, who has them, how many are out there, don’t re-key buildings and they wonder why things like this are happening. Idiots? Yes Do they care to make remedies? No, it costs money to re-key buildings.
If it was a honey bee swarm they would be sending out alerts, emails, and contemplating calling the governor for the national guard. When it’s important they bury it and notify nobody for fear of embarassment.
They are nothing more than scared teenagers lying by omission to stay out of trouble and mistakenly thinking someone is buying their line of bullshit. Not going to fly.
There has been no accountability for so long and all the loose ends are coming apart. Every shift is a crisis where we have to move patrol officers around like musical chairs to pretend we have staffing. As patrol officers are walking out the door they create new supervisor positions and fill them in denial of reality.
This is what you get when you are running a country club full of people drunk on power instead of a professional police department. It’s a joke.
This Shift Shuffle has been going on for how many years now? Some people say 10 years. We haven’t met minimal staffing standards since they were set.
WTF? ASU has absolutely no integrity what so ever. They have know about these issues for years and are still doing nothing!! This was happening when I worked there which is nearly 7 years ago!! This department should be shuttered, everyone should be given pink slips on the 3rd floor, and the good people should be absorbed by AZ DPS. How is it that a Highway Patrol office would be able to better police a university campus? The answer is that they actual have integrity.
They are accountable, have standards for everyone, not just the troops. The command here are idiots with no integrity and this department will never grow because of it.
The police department needs major housecleaning. Rotorooter needs to snake the sewer pipes and unclog the Shichilone and rest of command out in order to build a competent command who isn’t constantly at war with the troops.
It’s all about the appearances. It looks like they pissed off more and more people who are going to make those appearances increasingly impossible to maintain.
ASU PD LEADERSHIP EXAMPLE RIGHT THERE! Sound the alarm about about stray harmless animals, bees, send out multiple Livesafe alerts on phones, emails, and ignore real issues out of embarrassment and fear of taking resresponsibility!
It took the integrity of an insider to leak this pertinent information for the safety of the Arizona State University community. Boot up the Blue team internal investigation software, pick the people you don’t like, and start screwing around again like jackasses caught with their pants down again lmfao.

This is par for the course when it comes to the so-called leadership of the Arizona State University Police Department. Am I surprised to see an email from Lou Scichilone in the middle of this? No, not surprised one bit. I also have no doubt they are rehearsing what they will all say before they go lie to Morgan Olsen and Mike Crow as they explain this to be under wraps, that the keys were found, or this is no big deal. Lie, lie, lie today, but those fucking lies will catch up to you tomorrow.
The security of 10’s of 1000’s of students, staff, and faculty are at risk because anyone could have these key sets for any purpose. It’s 2016 and the jackass management doesn’t have a record of what keys the police department has? Read Lou’s email. He’s more concerned about the financial cost to the PD than to the fact a serial rapist or terrorist could now have access to nearly every corner or the campus. Is Lou concerned about the risk to people? NO. His concern is the risk to the ASUPD budget and how many free lunches it will cost command.
The ASUPD clique Lou S is a part of exemplifies what is wrong with the ASU Police department and apparently the university senior leadership as a whole. The lack of empathy, compassion for victims and their families, the lack of dedication to public safety through the encouragement of leadership known to be incompetent, corrupt, despotic, delusional, and absolutely ineffective speaks to the systemic problem of leadership management at the university. The Arizona State University lost it’s soul in chasing profit and for some strange reason integrity and sound moral management ethics were the sacrifice.
If they are willing to lie about crime statistics for the sake of publicity and profit, when people’s children are dead because they went to a school in a under-policed high crime area they were led to believe was safe, what else are they willing to do or lie about? Answer; anything that can benefit them, anything that could embarrass them, and even things that do neither. Anything and everything. What a great model for police leadership Pickens left behind to be enabled and encouraged by Thompson.
Plausible deniability. Even if a suspect was caught with these keys they would take that out of the officer’s report or more likely there wouldn’t be a officer taking the report. It would be a police aide taking yet another suspect unknown report because we don’t have the staffing to function because we don’t have the leadership and positive working environment to retain them.
They are shameless on every issue. It’s going to be a breath of fresh air once their deeds catch up to them.
Well put. No point in guessing why everyone is running to get out of this shit department, they treat people like shit and are the most unethical people any of us have ever seen. Not very inspiring for one’s future. Even the new people see it right at the start.
