How is ASU Police Commander Christopher Speranza NOT ON ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE with fellow Brady listers Lieutenant Jason Latella and Sergeant Nate Deveney? Welcome to the ASUPD clique protecting it’s own.

Arizona State University Police Commander Chris Speranza integrity free

A we previously reported, Commander Chris Speranza was actually assigned by ASU Police Chief Michael Thompson to investigate himself in a complaint against himself. Why isn’t he on administrative leave with the other two unethical reprobates in uniform, Latella and Deveney?

Can no rank ASU Police Officers investigate their own complaints against them? Hell No.

Therefore ASU Police Chief Michael Thompson is a complete idiot, suffering from a mental illness, OR he is a corrupt piece of shit who has no business wearing the badge and uniform of a police officer. Which one is it Chief Michael Thompson, maybe it’s more than one?

ASU Police completed ETHICS TRAINING in time for TWO of it’s supervisors to find themselves out on ADMIN LEAVE. Never in the history of the Arizona State University Police Department have 2 supervisors been placed on leave at the same time!

Even crazy ASU Sgt Michael Roper only received 8 days off for threatening to shoot ASU Detective Dustin Melton.

HE KEPT HIS JOB AND WORKED TO TERMINATE

OFFICERS FOR MUCH MUCH LESS!

What a career of service, honor,  & integrity to be proud of.

Also a few crimes in the process:

  1. 13-1202. Threatening or intimidating; classification a class 1 misdemeanor in this case.
  2. 13-1204. Aggravated assault; classification; a class 5 to 6 felony depending on circumstances.

Arizona State University Police Michael Von Roper Dishonor Roll

Supervisors are set free of responsibility, unless they significantly fell out of favor.

Are we surprised?

No, not at all.

Are Chief Thompson and his command trying to do the right thing?

No, not a chance, it’s just a feint.

Should thorough investigations be done on both of these known liar ASU Police supervisor Brady listers? ABSOLUTELY.

Chief Michael Thompson’s bosses are on notice and the flunkies of ASU Police command are finally under a token modicum of professional scrutiny. Without ethics or competent police department management skills, their typical unprofessional clusterfuck management style always rises to the top.

The command of ASU Police routinely target employees, but when they terminate officers they attempt to concoct a way for them to have their AZPOST peace officer certification revoked.

How many times were the ASU Police Command successful? ZERO

How much INTEGRITY does the ASU Police Command have? ZERO

A Police Department managed without INTEGRITY is an absolute 100% LIABILITY to the community they are expected to serve.

If ASU Police Command did a complete and proper investigation into the conduct of themselves, then you would start seeing employees from the ASU Police Department losing their AZPOST certifications.

Say hello to ASU Police’s Brady List Wannabees:

Here is another dog pile example of the type of integrity police officers can come to expect by working at the Arizona State University Police Department.

Chief Mike Thompson made the decision to assign his commander, Chris Speranza, to investigate a complaint an officer filed against Chris Speranza. How can this be?

It’s because Chief Mike Thompson stillhas the same integrity he had when he decided to start an affair with another Mesa Officer’s wife and worked to injure that officers career to further his position with that man’s wife. Classy guy.

The same scum of the earth code of unethical behavior that Chief Thompson had while he was at the Mesa Police Department has ensured him a position of power at ASUPD. The man has learned very little over the years.

    • DL500unit says:

All that was left off his resume. Pickens was careful to collect outside supervisors with checkered pasts. Mike Thompson is no exception, he’s the rule.

  3. Bob Waters says:

I have given some thought to the pattern of ethics I’ve been reading about and here is good example of what they should be. I found this at another Arizona law enforecement agency. Does the Arizona State University have a code of ethics for it’s police department to follow? If not, here’s a good example to start following.

    https://www.tucsonaz.gov/police/mission-values-code

    Ethics for Leadership:

    Leadership
Each member of the organization is responsible for establishing the direction of the department and communicating the vision at every level of the organization. We show the way in our community by going first and guiding those who follow. We are entrusted with caring for the spirit of the organization.
    Leadership means we:
    Lead by example
    Do the right thing
Look for and acknowledge things done right
Create a trusting environment where people can develop
Are willing to go beyond traditional expectations

    Integrity

Our value as police employees depends upon the respect and confidence we earn from the community and each other. The integrity of each individual, as well as the organization, is necessary for citizens to give us their trust. Without this trust, we cannot expect to form a partnership with the community.
    Integrity means we:
    Are honest
Admit mistakes and take corrective actions
Do what we say we will do
Behave consistently with our Department values

    Law Enforcement Code of Ethics
As a Law Enforcement Officer, my fundamental duty is to serve mankind; to safeguard lives and property; to protect the innocent against deception, the weak against oppression or intimidation, and the peaceful against violence or disorder; and to respect the Constitutional rights of all men to liberty, equality and justice.

I will keep my private life unsullied as an example to all; maintain courageous calm in the face of danger, scorn, or ridicule; develop self-restraint; and be constantly mindful of the welfare of others. Honest in thought and deed in both my personal and official life, I will be exemplary in obeying the laws of the land and the regulations of my department. Whatever I see or hear of a confidential nature or that is confided to me in my official capacity will be kept ever secret unless revelation is necessary in the performance of my duty.

I will never act officiously or permit personal feelings, prejudices, animosities or friendships to influence my decisions. With no compromise for crime and with relentless prosecution of criminals, I will enforce the law courteously and appropriately without fear or favor, malice or ill will, never employing unnecessary force or violence and never accepting gratuities.

I recognize the badge of my office as a symbol of public faith, and I accept it as a public trust to be held so long as I am true to the ethics of the police service. I will constantly strive to achieve these objectives and ideals, dedicating myself before God to my chosen profession…law enforcement.

God bless the police for the danger they face when we need their help. Like any other profession you are still fallible human beings given to negative behavior hurtful to themselves and others. From what I have read it looks like your police department has a few bad eggs who should be removed for what they have been willing to do to fellow officers.

Well intentioned Mr. Waters, but you would have to work here to see what’s on the receiving end. You would have an easier time convincing OJ Simpson to admit he killed two people, than getting the command of the ASU Police Dept to change how they conduct themselves. They see the employees as the enemy and it is very much an adversarial attitude and relationship.

    • yurhuckleberry says:

Thank you for joining in on taking an interest on this important matter of public safety. Unfortunately, once former ASUPD Chief John Pickens was given his pink slip, then given a useless silence the witless witness protection program job, there wasn’t a genuine process to find and secure his replacement with a serious qualified police chief.

Pickens was useless to begin with, just a YES man, so the university thought it was getting a boost by appointing Mike Thompson to Chief. Thompson’s chief asset was his ability to endear himself to Morgan Olsen by spending much of his pre-chief time there endearing himself to the then current chief’s boss. Once his lipstick lobbying was complete, a former Sgt from Mesa PD who retired with the cloud of shame over his head for betraying fellow officers by targeting their wives for sexual conquest, now catapulted himself to a Chief’s job at the largest university in the country.

What is chief Thompson’s greatest accomplishment? Proving to the employees of the Arizona State University Police Department that there’s something worse than having an incompetent and corrupt brooding chief. It’s having a mean spirited incompetent and corrupt scheming chief.

Thompson is unstable, fearful of his own people, distrustful of the circle around him, and he has good reason to be. His own guilty conscience would send any good person on a path of change and redemption. We believe AC Foster is being groomed for the position because of his connection with ASU athletics and diversity.

Can a police chief be blamed for the entirely lackluster performance of his command? No, but he has much to do with it and encouraging destructive behavior that hurts the members of the agency and erodes moral and trust in the workplace.

    • DL500unit says:

Unfortunately, none of this applies to asupd in practice.

  4. ASUPDsmokeNmirrors says:

Anyone sitting around thinking that somehow these jerks are going to change after all these years is delusional. They decide what rules, policy and even laws to follow.

They have been doing this for so long it will never change until they are retired or fired. It has nothing to do with them not understanding fairness, ethics, integrity, or whatever you want to term it.

The problem is the fact they have no respect for propper behavior and have an obsession with power alone, nothing else matters.

  5. RUkiddingMe says:

    Ladies and Gentlemen,

The ASUPD workplace is another shining example of workplace bullying and a toxic environment. They single people out, attack them, and get rid of them. Everything they do is an emotional response to a perceived threat in the workplace.

They are threatened by anyone they think are more charismatic, intelligent, knowledgable about the job, or whatever one of their insecurities or jealousy is.

This means just about everyone is perceived as a threat unless they start pandering to them as soon as they walk in the door. Former ASUPD Officer Daniel Gaughan is the perfect example of this.

As soon as he started at ASUPD he assumed the role of a beta dog and never stopped. He became their firearms range bitch early on and began taddle tailing on any officer who trusted him with any information.

How else do you think he was able to leave ASUPD without the same black listing given to so many other ASUPD officers who have tried?

  6. ThySummons says:

Commander Chris Speranza was actually assigned by ASU Police Chief Michael Thompson to investigate himself in a complaint against himself?!

Really, Chief Thompson?! Have you lost your freaking marbles?! You actually thought it appropriate to have one of the most unethical and shady employees in the police department investigate themselves?! Ethics 101: You NEVER have someone investigate themselves, period!

You, my friend, are unbelievably corrupt and should be immediately removed as chief of police by the university!

The Department of Justice really needs to be called in to do a full-blown investigation into the operations of ASUPD.

    • DontLOLmeJP says:

Thompson is way worse than Pickens and nobody thought it was possible. He had his moment, but turned his back on his people. Pathetic.

  7. OneFlewOverTheCuckoo'sPD says:

The coalition to rid the Arizona State University Police Department of some of the most corrupt and unethical individuals will NOT end until the indictments begin!

  8. Embudo says:

It is unfortunate that Chief Thompson is allowed to operate along with his command staff as though they are above the law and in such a manner that is detrimental to the morale, welfare, and mental well-being of the majority of employees, all with the tacit approval of his boss, Dr. Morgan R. Olsen.

    • DL500unit says:

They will never admit to the obvious pattern of excessive employee departure year after year. Retention, retention, retention.

  9. WheresMy907 says:

The reason Speranza has no consequences for his actions is the same reason no commander or above has. They are free to do what other employees would be fired for. There are plenty examples of asupd command having the integrity of street thug criminals, nothing is done about it. How many times have they been caught in lies, but they continue dragging the good department officers through the mud and generating another round of negative truths about the agency. Word of mouth ad vertising is killing this place.

  10. DL500unit says:

Maybe if some of these people weren’t such immature and immoral supervisors none of this would be happening? This isn’t happening by accident. Most employees vote with their feet and leave if they are able.

    • Twocents says:

The Asu police department has more departures than a busy airport. It spends a fortune on training replacements, funding a top heavy command, and doing so indefinitely.

  11. Hot Lateraled Fuzz says:

He’s such a scheming piece of shit. I hated working for this guy because he’s willing to fabricate anything to add support to whatever garbage he’s trying to hurt an employee with. He really should be ashamed of himself and how far off base he is with professional standards in this career.

  12. Concerned Citizen says:

    The calm before the storm?

  13. QuickCallTempe, says:

Apparently Short is on administrative leave too. Anyone know the story on that?

    • DL500unit says:

Why is the ASU Police Sgt over Detectives, James Short on admin leave? Who knows? He’s probably on leave for attempting to use ethics within the highly corrupt and political asupd command structure. Surprising? I bet his absence has been felt in detectives, little experience there other than Momon.

  14. LDS says:

I’m glad that a few had the courage to come forward to expose these guys for what they are.

It’s a shame that we have these type of individuals in law enforcement that have zero integrity and ethics.
