March 2015 – Sergent denies seeing hound run the wrong way up a busy dual carriageway

In March 2015 at Sutton in the Elms, Broughton Ashley the Atherstone Hunt hunted a fox which escaped across the busy Fosse Way B4114. A hound followed the fox onto the road where it lost the scent. The hound ran up the dual carriageway into oncoming traffic before finally heading back to where it had come from. The incident was witnessed by PS Nicholas Woodrow. Woodrow pulled over in front of the hound and spoke to a member of the hunt. This hunt member happened to be Brett Parker also a serving police officer. Woodrow latter denied all knowledge of seeing the hound in front of him on the dual carriageway.

A formal complaint was made about Woodrow which was handled by Inspector Daniel Eveleigh who upheld the complaint. Eveleigh claimed there had been a number of complaints about Woodrow and he would be given training. Despite the complaint being upheld and despite the obvious trust issues this incident had now caused PS Woodrow was later given the role of hunt/sab liaison officer. Eveleigh copied acting Chief Inspector and Area Commander for Leicestershire Eastern Counties Louise Cordiner into the email thread which included the sabs personal email and telephone number. Cordiner was latter outed as riding with the Belvior Hunt
