Solidarity In Action on Brighton Poundland Picket

 Re-blogged from Hastings Anarchists.

On Saturday Brighton Solidarity Federation were joined by Brighton Benefits Campaign on our first picket in the national campaign against Workfare profiteers Poundland. Over the course of two hours we handed out a thousand leaflets and struck up many conversations with the public at their North Street store. This follows the high court ruling that the DWP were within the law to force two unemployed workers out of voluntary work and into unpaid labour at the store.

Siemens – stop union-busting in the USA

Re-blogged from B.P.A.C.C.

Please support an international campaign on behalf of Siemens workers in the USA. Unite have members working locally at Poole who have raised this issue with their local management and along with Unite nationally are seeking to influence this decision in the States.

Please click on the link below to add your support to the LabourStart email campaign. If “good” employers act like this and get away with it, then we are all in trouble….

USA: Stop Siemens union-busting

Siemens, the global engineering giant, likes to say it’s a socially responsible company. It even just signed an agreement with labour organizations committing to respect workers’ rights around the globe.

So what does Siemens do within days after signing this agreement?

It launches a vicious union busting campaign.

In Maryland, USA, Siemens has hired a top-dollar anti-union consultant and waged a campaign that’s included intimidation, surveillance, threats involving termination, and prohibiting Siemens employees from even talking about the union.

The workers at Siemens in Maryland are fighting back. They’re seeking to organize with the United Steelworkers and are reaching out to unions around the world for support.

A message from the Anti-Fascist Network:

The EDL are holding a national demo in Walthamstow (London) this Saturday. The usual lefty and religious suspects are organising a counter mobilisation.

Anti Fascist Network groups will also be present. Anyone not wanting to stand in a police cordon and listen to speeches from wannabe politicians should contact their local AFN aligned group, or just head into the area with your mates and see what’s on. Stay mobile, stay safe.

For working class unity against fascism!

Aside

Comrade Chus Vila on Hunger Strike

We report that our CNT comrade, María Jesús Vila Calviño, also known as Chus, who lives in Fuerteventura (Canary Islands), has been on an indefinite hunger strike since Tuesday evening in order to protest, not only about her personal situation (no job, no unemployment benefits, no financial assistance, no roof because of the impossibility of paying rent), but also about the situation of so many people who live under similar (or even worse) conditions. … See more…

The tellytubbies are coming to Chelmsford!

Despite a bizzare coalition of locals telling them to fuck off: check this out!
Posties, teachers, tories, trots, UKIP, god-botherers, in fact, just about everyone in Chelmsford except the eddles themselves and the BNP, not to mention weird little fash groups like the casuals, CFX etc who all hate each other – can’t remember why but I think it was something to do with football, or grassing each other up, or having their fingers in the till or each others kids. Don’t you wish you had an ideology to argue about?

Assemble at 11.30am 18th August at Tindal Square CM1 1LX.

Contact your local Antifa, get the muslamic ray guns on charge, ease up on the soap and we’ll see you on the streets comrades, should be a good ‘un!

Rrrright, now! Ahahaha…
