Annoy the Swappies Badges

The SWP aren’t Marxist, they’re wankers was a post on Ian Bones blog herehttp://ianbone.wordpress.com/2010/08/22/observer-at-it-again-with-bombs-in-brumstory/#comments

This was a kickstart for us to produce Annoy a Swopper badge range lovingly crafted in Yorkshire

Badge 1 The Trotsky Ice Pick

Badge 2 Dead Trotsky

Badge 3  Fanny Kaplan the woman who shot Lenin in 1918

Badge 4  Ramón Mercader Trotsky’s assassin

So get your swoppey mate a four pack and make them a happy swopper

  1. Duncan says:

The bloke murdered people on the orders of one of the worst dictators of the last century, flogging badges with his face on isn’t my idea of a wind up. Just saying.

Say what you like about the man, he had his faults and many of his political descendants are cretins, no-one can touch his writing. Here’s what he wrote as he was dying:

Natasha has just come up to the window from the courtyard and opened it wider so that the air may enter more freely into my room. I can see the bright green strip of grass beneath the wall, and the clear blue sky above the wall, and sunlight everywhere.

Life is beautiful. Let the future generations cleanse it of all evil, oppression and violence, and enjoy it to the full.

    1. Bad case of the Trots says:

Well seems to have wound you up good and proper mate!
Trotsky was responsible for the Killing of tens of thousands during the Civil War in Russia including Bolsheviks who disagreed with his tactics, If Trotskt had won the power struggle with Stalin we would have gone on to murder millions too

    2. Duncan says:

      I’m spitting feathers.

  2. Oscar Lomax says:

Trotsky on the Kronstadt cunTs who needed to be killed like the vermin they were

“completely demoralized elements, men who wore elegant white trousers and did their hair like pimps.”

    ha ha. Long LIve TROTSKY!!

  3. Nobody has said Mercader was an anarchist or a hero, the idea of the badge is solely to wind up the trots ;-)

He was, of course, a state tool – though on the plus side he did us all a favour by teaching George Orwell Spanish (Orwell confessed that if he had been more politically aware at the time he would have fought with the anarchist militias).

Trotsky, on the other hand, would have declared himself an ‘anarchist’, a ‘hero’ – or even the second coming of Christ – if he thought it would further his career; he was a pure opportunist like his latter-day Swappie counterparts.

  4. Duncan says:

So this Ramón Mercader bloke then, was an anarchist? Who did he work for again?

  5. Poumista says:

I like the Fanny Kaplan one, she’s an under-remembered hero of freedom.

But Ramon Mercador is no hero: a Stalinist agent.

  6. We’re working on creating an online shop and will be selling stuff as soon as we can work out how (any advice will be warmly welcomed) ;-)

We’ll be at the Anti-Tory protest in Brum on October 3rd and at the London Bookfair on October 23rd – we’ll have posters and badges available at both events. We’ll also send some badges down to the Freedom Press Bookshop in Whitechapel.

  7. Where do I get these to? Do you have an online shop?
I love the Ramón Mercader one. I proper hate the trots (the people not the shits).
