Des tried to comment but said he couldn’t get past the captcha, so this comment is partly a test of the comment system. What Des noticed was that the leaving time on this page under “When and Where?” is given as 7pm whereas on every page there is a bit of text at the top right which gives it as 6.30pm. In my experience people don’t normally set off before 7pm. In days of old the Mass did start earlier but it gradually slipped. There is quite a lot of support I think for a return to earlier starts, or failing that, at least not letting it slip any more. When I go on the Mass I always try to get there early because I enjoy the pre-ride socialising.

I copied from Doug’s website I think, and as extra support for the 6.30 option.

I’m all for earlier starts, but it’d be more accurate to say to leave at 7.
there’s TWO captchas (character recognition and sum). I’ve only ever seen that on account registration (and rarely then), never for every comment; seems like overkill.
There have been spam problems, that’s why. And n23 doesn’t want to deal with it by looking at IP addresses so it has to be done in another way.
If you wish to help with n23, there is the dev list …
I think the mass should leave a little later just to give people a chance to get there from work i work in a bike shop and like most bike shops we shut at around 6:30, myself and a lot of colleges love riding in the mass but sometimes we just cant make it in time.
