With Bristol Against the Arms Trade (BAAT), we booted DPRTE off campus and Bristol on 19 and 20 November 2013. DPRTE is the second largest military business and arms trade event in the country after DSEI (taking place annually whereas DSEI takes place every other year).

We hosted the 2014 national student demonstration for the Global Day of Action against Military Spending (GDAMS) at UWE Bristol’s Frenchay campus on 14 April 2014 with support from Campaign Against Arms Trade (CAAT) and BAAT. Check CAAT’s report and our photo report.

With BAAT, we highlighted, and raised awareness about, UWE’s decision to host sixth biggest arms company as part of its so-called “Distinguished Address Lecture Series” through protests on 16 October 2014. Check report in UWE’s student newspaper.

We produced a map of the university’s Frenchay campus immediate neighbourhood exposing that UWE is literally stuck between the MoD’s huge procurement centre and a business park full of military businesses and arms companies. Check it out!

With many others, we successfully supported anti-militarist activists on trial in January 2015 for disrupting the DPRTE 2014 arms fair in Cardiff.

UWE Bristol sustainability Bloodhound arms trade military business corporate greed death

UWE Bristol supports the profiteering of the business of death, and facilitates the military and the arms trade through Bloodhound SSC, a MoD-sponsored rocket-propelled car.
