The people of Gangjeong village on Jeju Island are struggling against the construction of a huge illegal military base being built by the Korean navy and Samsung, at the insistence of the United States as part of their military expansion in the Asia Pacific region. It is both an environmental disaster and a threat to peace in the region. It is an immediate threat to the people of Gangjeong, their livelihoods, their way of life, and their enjoyment of local nature especially the sacred Gureombi volcanic rock mass, currently being destroyed by the Samsung and the Korean navy.

We aim to increase awareness of this issue here in the UK and promote solidarity with the people of Gangjeong alongside growing global support.
