Forced deportations can be very violent, and sometimes fatal.

On 21 August 2014, a 51-year-old Algerian man died of suffocation whilst he was being transported from a migrant detention centre to Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris. Read more (in French) here.

Between 1991 and 2010, 14 people died during deportations from EU countries. Two deportees died on Air France flights in December 2002 and January 2003 respectively. You can read an Amnesty statement on that here.
