Who Is Seeking Who?

Genesis 3:9 And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?

I still use the phrase “…and then God showed up…” and hear it used many times in stories.  After you hear this it’s your cue to listen closely because the point of the story … “the punchline” is coming.  What the whole story has been leading up to.  Also I hear it said when something particularly relevant happens at a not so coincidental time. :)

Over the past year though I’ve become more mindful of something…not that I don’t still use the phrase…but God is here and everywhere all the time.  It is us that show up….in other words we have to be seeking God in order to see Him working in ours and others lives.  But He is also forever seeking us.  He looked for Adam after he’d committed the first ultimate sin.  Ready to forgive.

I heard a friend of mine say that he feels really blessed when he sees God working in real time…he is at the moment seeing God’s work.  Because most of the time he only gets it later.  We struggle with what is going on in our lives and why things are happening … only to figure it out later.  But as I’m struggling….and seeking God….I have to remember He is always looking for me, looking out for me, and wanting me to have fellowship with Him.  He gave His only Son so that our fellowship might be restored back with Him through Jesus.
