The Only Requirement…

The 3rd tradition…we should practice discernment not judgement.  Any nut that walks through these doors will find a wrench in these rooms that will fit them.  It is attraction not promotion.

Once someone walks through the door it is our obligation to help them not to judge them.  It gets sticky though if we are talking about a murderer or a rapist.  Are we supposed to help them?  Do they even have a genuine desire to stop…to come to repentance.  To be sober in all aspects of their lives…emotional sobriety.

I think all this tradition tells us is that we should again be tolerant and open-minded.  We can’t immediately dismiss a call for help we have to immediately help and then let the mechanism of discernment not judgement do it’s work.

This tradition is also refreshing because it reminds me that the only one that can exclude me is myself.  That is truly does not matter what others think of me…and that what others think is really none of my business.
