A tribute to Loukanikous, the legendary Greek riot dog

As revolutionaries we occasionally wish non-human animals could rise up and fight for themselves. Loukanikous was a dog who did just that. He was a legend in Greece for his “fearless interventions” during rioting against austerity in Athens in 2010-12.

Sadly according to the Roarmag.org website he has just died aged 10. For the past two years he was living with a loving family after retiring from activism in 2012 due to ill-health.
