What I Should Have Said 01-23-2016

AA unity …5th tradition … group protects the individual … middle of the herd.

Our primary purpose is to grow spiritually so that we can be of maximum service to God and others…the groups primary purpose is to carry its message to those who still suffer…they work together.

An individual comes in tells their story and slowly without knowing it grows spiritually…in they process they begin to be of service to others…as they become part of the group the groups story expands fulfilling the groups purpose.

Either I’m slow or this could not have been planned…part of the divine purpose.  p.77 and the 5th tradition go together.

5th Tradition:

  • Each group has but one primary purpose—to carry its message to the alcoholic who still suffers.

p. 77 “Our real purpose is to fit ourselves to be of maximum service to God and the people about us.”

The herd and the individual…staying in the middle is figurative…I don’t have to sit in the middle of the room…I can sit on the outside of the room or the back.
