On the 15th May this year five anarchists were
arrested in the surrounding area of Barcelona.
Their crime? Taking part in demonstrations that
ended in riots and spreading their ideology
through Facebook groups. For that reason they
have been accused of belonging to a terrorist
group, supporting terrorism, recruitment and
indoctrination.
As proof of their guilt in these crimes, the
police have shown the material seized in their
homes: anarchists flags, books on libertarian
philosophy, black clothes and some fireworks.
Despite the fact that these allegations have no
sense and there being no clear "evidence", their
ideology against the state was sufficient for
the judge Pedraz to condemn them, each to their
own seperate prison in Madrid: Soto del Real,
Navalcarnero, Aranjuez, Extremera and Alcalá
Meco, on regime FIES 3.
Their situation cannot be misinterpreted as an
isolated case, but as yet one more action from
the repressive strategy of the Spanish State,
which is currently re-tracing past steps to
reinforce their authoritarianism. The arrest of
these five anarchists is a precedent that will
be used in the future to justify indiscriminate
persecution, something that any person of any
country should not allow.
In this context we call for solidarity of all
those who appreciate the injustice suffered by
our fellow comrades, get out in the streets of
your cities on the June 21st, bring banners and
candles so they can feel our warmth even when
they are isolated in their cells.
We ask you to spread this text and to share
their situation by all means possible, everyone
needs to know about the political persecution
by the Spanish State.
