Our Lady Anarchia

In the beginning was nothing

Or was that in the end?

And then there was the possibility of something

Or was it a memory?

And then, stage by stage, that glimmer became more firm

Divided into polar opposites

Whose confrontation made them real

Or were they transcended until finally it was all the same?

Just before the lowest point of all

Which is us

(Because, whichever way you look at it, we cannot be the highest of the high)

Came the force that created us

And in between that timeless energy

And our own time-tied lives

Floats an angel

With one wing in the here and now

And the other in eternity

She pours us jugs of purest wine

To slake our thirst for soul

And takes from us the wholesome bread

Of Existenz

So lacking in those higher realms

She lends us strength

That burns inside

Each one of us

In our defiant individuality

And we give it back

So that she can forge it

Into a common force

To shield us all

And let us be

What we must be

And let us do

What we must do

And let us dream

What we must dream

She is nothing without us

We are nothing without her

Poem without feeling

Beauty without form

Nature without essence

River without banks

Breathing without air

Blood without a heart

Rhythm without tempo

Kite without the wind

Making without crafting

Anger without wrath

A branch without a trunk

A smile without the joy

Number without substance

Tinder without spark

With no song there are no singers

The song is silent if not sung

You need us all

As we need you
