Cops Evict Rebel Nuns

Police forced their way into a Polish convent yesterday, evicted about
65 former nuns, and arrested the mother superior and a monk who had
occupied the complex illegally for two years.

The women had taken
over the building in a rebellion against the Vatican, which had ordered
the replacement of the mother superior, Jadwiga Ligocka, who had
reportedly had visions.

“They were disobedient,” said Mieczyslaw
Puzewicz, of the Lublin diocese of the Roman Catholic Church. The
Vatican formally expelled the women from their Sisters of Bethany order
last year.

Way to go nuns! Compared to a case in Blighty in 1995 where nuns took squatters to court – “Congregation of the
Poor Servants of the Mother of God vs Kestrel, Alex and Persons
Unknown” reported in Schnews  .

Would Jesus approve? I’m sure Gerrard Winstanley wouldn’t!
