Blackmore and Sparkford Vale, Bagber

Hit report BSV
Tuesday 13th November 2018
Meet: Ash Tree Farm, Bagber.

The hunt left the meet just after 11.30am and Mark “Lugz” Dogrell cast the hounds through a copse by Pleak House Farm. They circled round to Oaklea Farm where they picked up and headed in the direction of Hargrove Farm Cottage. They then came back to Oaklea Farm and we were able to keep them in our sights for most of this time.
From here they headed south toward Woodlands Farm and we monitored from Chapel Lane. In this area there were sheep and cows terrified, running around and they also flushed two deer. These poor deer had no where to go and were totally panic stricken ping ponging around a field. The BSV’s day would not be complete without terrorising all livestock and wildlife alike for which they have a total disregard. The usual blood thirsty knuckle-draggers were gathered on Chapel Lane and a female supporter was taking photos of our vehicle for the second time today – maybe she wants to buy it ? Make us an offer 🤨
After picking up on another line they continued south towards the A30 and into Brickyard Farm. Unsurprisingly, the A30 was very busy but the BSV’s day is never complete without causing bedlam on the roads. They have a total disregard for other people’s daily lives and the welfare of their hounds.
We took the no-through road towards Puxey to try and head them off as they were still on a line. We pulled into a gateway to turn around and saw some horses running around a field, so we stopped to film and a hunt support vehicle quickly blocked us in.
Mark “lugz” Dogrell could be heard in the background gathering the hounds, it was obvious that they were most certainly not welcome, and in this area and this fox was safe.
Heading back along the road out of Puxey the terrier man decided to undertake us, very badly, and collided with the front side of our vehicle. He looked back but, as usual, they think they are above the law, and he just drove off. This has been reported to the police and we will be dropping the footage into the police station and will update with any further news.
Foot support had all gathered at the cross-roads just outside Stalbridge and the hunt were by Biberne Farm. A lone hound was observed running along the road, none of the support seemed overly bothered by this, despite the fact buses and coaches were frequent.
We found a good vantage point whilst old Lugz worked his hounds through an area between Gomershay Farm and Grove Farm. The hounds came out by Kings Mill Bridge and headed down Kings Mill Lane. Edward “the rural genius” Doggrell trotted past, giving us a smile and wave. The hunt went into a field off this road and the hounds were cast through a hedgerow, a sab was recording this as they picked up again and this time the scent-line of the fox took them in the direction of Halletts Farm. We are unsure as to the fate of this fox. The hunt next headed over to Lower Ryalls Farm – hopefully that’s where the fox took them  and gave them the slip, but unfortunately we just don’t know for sure.
It was a pleasure to see the hounds back into the trailer shortly after, at about 4.40pm

We had a conversation with a local landowner today, and they were gravely concerned for their animals as the hounds had rampaged through not only their garden, but also their neighbours where their pet dogs were swept into the whole affair. Lugz and every other member of the hunt have no regard whatsoever for people living in area nor the animals / pets – as long as they get to gallop around fields killing foxes nothing else matters to them!

Maintaining a presence on hunting days has a direct impact on how many / if they kill foxes, it doesn’t stop them every time, but left unchecked they will be free to hunt as much as they like. Another crucial aspect of what we do is filming them, gathering evidence of illegal hunting might not always get a conviction but if nothing else it gets the message out that illegal hunting is still going on up and down the country, and one day we will see them in court.

Blackmore and Sparkford Vale Hunt

Meeting at : Manor Farm, Droop

Today we went to see how the BSV were behaving and the long and short of it is ….. worse than Saturday minus the delightful terrier boy. Leaving the meet just after 11.30am the hunt headed towards Cockrow Copse. We had a good view of them from the road where there were 2 pairs of riders waiting on point to turn any fleeing foxes back towards the hounds. After drawing this area the hounds were gathered and came up onto the road, one hound had got left behind and was howling.

From here Doggrell took the hounds to an un named copse west of Boywood Farm. The usual knuckle draggers were hanging around down by Cannings Court and a foot team went in to make the area safe. Doggrell then took the hounds to Short Wood and with lots of support watching from the hill the hounds were cast through the wood. Sabs were watching and observed a fox break and run east. Quickly back in our vehicle and heading North towards Star Farm with the hounds on our left we tried to pull in by Boywood Farm when Edward Doggrell and his little helper rode their horses at our vehicle. Then when back on the road proceeded to hold us up by blocking the road all the way to Povert Bridge Farm. Not only was he holding us up but most of the support too …. he really isn’t very bright !! Edward aka the rural genius and his friend went in at the farm and we carried on to put a foot team in by Povert Bridge. The horn was used to lift the hounds head and Edward aka the rural genius and his friend cantered their horses at sabs. Some words were exchanged and as much as we try to persuade him not to use his trusty steed as a weapon he is just too much like his old man.

It was at this point we discovered some monitors were also in the area and we were extremely pleased to see them and be able to start communicating with them, the huntsman had been on the move all day and it was hard work keeping up with him today…. but whilst he is running he is not full on hunting ! A huge thanks and respect to these monitors.

The hounds came out onto the road and were put back in at Fir Tree Farm and the hounds picked up at Stivvicks Bridge. A foot team went in at Park Gate and headed in that direction. The hounds came down and past the sabs towards the road and then picked up again down by Park Gate. This line took them back in the direction of Stivvicks Bridge and sabs used the gizmo as they passed them but to no avail although this line was lost and they soon came back past the sabs again. There were two cows in the field that were scared and running around. One hound was observed to have a lot of blood on it but we are pretty sure it was from a cut on its ear. Several of the riders asked sabs if we would like to hold the gate open for them, as generous of an offer that was, we declined. After heading down to the road hunt and with light fading fast they packed up for the day.

We can’t be sure of that foxes fate because the rural genius was holding us up.
