The Anti-Fascist Network

Aberdeen Anti-Fascist Alliance Signs Up To The Anti-Fascist Network!

We are proud to align ourselves, as a group and as individuals, to the newly formed Anti-Fascist Network (AFN). This comes in response to recent events that have seen all out fascist tactics on the streets of the UK pass by without sufficient opposition. We believe it is every libertarian’s duty to oppose fascism, for the benefit of the communities we live in and for the rights of others and ourselves, to operate freely without the fear of threats and intimidation.

The Anti-Fascist Network seeks to join together small and large groups alike, with the aim being to eventually ensure anti fascists are never outnumbered on the streets. As a part of the network we will not tell people how to campaign in their areas, what politics they should adopt, or what form of Anti-fascist activity they should choose. We will however support each other to defeat all forms of fascism and organised racism.

Even if we cannot support each other physically, we can work together to share anything from information and skills to legal aid and propaganda. Everyone has a place in the Anti-Fascist Network.  It’s a job that no one wants to do, but while the threat is there we must be prepared to defend ourselves and each other.

The Anti-Fascist Network is not aligned to any political party and nor will we work with the police, who themselves often turn to racism when it suits their needs.  We believe a more direct approach to fighting fascism is required, and the ability to defend each other is important. In the interest of anti-fascist unity however, we will not judge another member group if they choose to work with the UAF or similar in their local area as every situation across the country is different, and is understood best by those who organise within the community seeking assistance. At the present time, getting our numbers on the street is the most important factor. All we can do is be prepared for all possible scenarios.

As with all organising, this network will only be as good as those who operate within it.

Individuals who want to join a public e-mail list to share information about the activities of the far right can sign up by sending a blank e-mail to:

 antifascistnews-subscribe@lists.riseup.net

This list is public so please do not treat it as secure, it is good for sharing general information, that may already be in the public domain, last minute call outs etc.

The groups such as ourselves, who are now a part of the antifascist network will be on a private e-mail list, which will remain secure. Information on this list can be passed onto our own trusted contacts.

Fascism will be taken off the streets not buy oppressive laws, or by waving banners behind a police line, but through true working class unity.  In solidarity with all other Anti-Fascist Groups!
