Civil (or Torts Law for those legal bods out there) is the law covering a variety of topics. It covers the offence of trespass, gives people the opportunity to take another to court to claim compensation, take a company to court for the same thing and facilitates suing the police when you’ve been unlawfully arrested, assaulted or prosecuted by them.
It also provides the opportunity for injunctions (court orders) to be sought against another – you could apply for one to stop q fox hunt from trespqssing qnd hunting on your land for example if this was a problem for you. Injunctions are also sought against protesters by companies, though it is a criminal offence to breach these.
