Thought Of The Day: Default Setting

A) Not true. “Anti-fascist” means that you are the counter-force against fascism and fascists. “Anti-fascist” is someone who takes an ACTIVE stance against fascism and fascists, in whatever form. Anyone else who does not like fascism, but does not take an active stance against it, is a “non-fascist”.

B) It is not the default position. Fascism and the rest of the Right have moved around, changed positions and taken to wearing different masks, and assuming different forms. Sadly this influence is growing and whilst overt fascism would repulse most people (Combat 18, National Action, etc), there are aspects of it which are increasingly being taken on by a wider public. As it stands now, non-fascism is somewhat the default setting, I will grant that. But this will not hold out for much longer.

Thought Of The Day: Work In Capitalist Society

Work in capitalist society is not a virtue nor is it liberating. It is true that it is necessary to survive in this capitalist world, and work does have occasional moments of hilarity, but the nature of capitalism gives us no choice. In this context of lack of choice, work under capitalism is economic bondage. It is an obligation for us, the working class, as opposed to the idle ruling classes. Having said that, it is nice to finish work, get your pay, and go home to spoon with your partner.

Thought Of The Day: What Am I Seeing?

It is not that often you come across true idiocy, maybe we encounter those who are a bit thick quite often, but idiocy like the above is a true rarity. Aside from the absolutely awful graphic design work, there are a few of things wrong with this:

  1. “North East England Against Labour”, ok, I am not a fan of the Labour Party myself, but this is not a Labour Party event. True that there are often high ranking Labour Party members in attendance, but it is a NATIONAL UNION OF MINEWORKERS/DURHAM MINERS’ ASSOCIATION event. The Durham Miners’ Gala (Big Meet) has ALWAYS been about our communities, not the Labour Party.
  2. “Welcome to County Durham President Trump”. So where do I start with this one? First off, “welcome to County Durham…”??? Trump is going nowhere near County Durham! So you can welcome him all you want, he is not going to be there (thankfully)!
  3. The comment by Lillian Lowery leaves much to be desired. “Never thought I would see this day”, sorry to tell you but you are not seeing anything beyond some shit page, using shit graphic design, promoting a non-event. You are not seeing anything because this is not a component of the Gala, so it is not as if it has been sanctioned due to a change of heart by the NUM/DMA. NOTHING IS CHANGING! It is not as if the Big Meet was established by socialists, and organised by socialists ever since. It is not as if the NUM/DMA are not socialist organisations or anything. The entire membership may not have personally been socialists, but a good chunk of the membership and the organisations themselves always have been!

Give your heads a collective wobble you bunch of roasters!
