Ledbury Hunt distance themselves from South Here

The Ledbury Hunt have been quick to distance themselves from the “alleged cruelty and malpractice at the South Hereford Hunt kennels” this week and have been sending out letters to locals in their hunt areas. We’ve had a number of people mentioning these letters to us and managed to get a picture of one of them.

It’s good to know that the Masters of the hunt “absolutely abhor and condemn the alleged actions” of the hunt which “can only be described as utterly cruel and defenceless” and that a custodial sentence and lifetime ban for the perpetrators, if found guilty, would be justified and therefore supported by the Masters of the Ledbury Hunt.

The ‘team’ at the Ledbury kennels have the total confidence and trust of the Masters in caring passionately about animals…

Here are the Ledbury caring passionately about chasing a fox up into the Malvern Hills, the terriermen attempting to get to another who had gone to ground in a badger sett – the man who tells the others to ‘get the dogs out’ has since agreed to a community resolution for hitting a 3C Sab in the face:

Here they are again caring passionately for the fox running from them in Eldersfield, the terriermen later putting a Patterdale terrier into a drain to care for a fox hiding within it…

Here they have cared so much for the welfare of foxes, they have blocked a drain under a road, which foxes have previously taken refuge in from the hounds, in order to stop them doing so again. Later they care so passionately for their horses, sabs have to slow down traffic whilst they sit on horseback in the road, barely noticeable to cars driving round the bend:

Here are the terriermen being prevented by sabs from caring for a fox seeking sanctuary in a badger sett…

And here they have got local gamekeeper Chris Bowers to help them to care for this fox, killed on Christmas Eve in Tirley:

Chasing foxes and blocking setts. Again:

And again:

And again:

(note the hound struggling in the slurry pit until a sab calls in hunt support for help)

We’ll be keeping an eye on the hunt as usual, but are glad that they feel so strongly about animal welfare and strong punishments for those who are caught behaving in ways which compromise that welfare…

Help us keep an eye on them? https://gogetfunding.com/camera-fundraiser-2/
