UNITED PACK PACKED UP.
We joined friends from Shropshire Hunt Saboteurs Staffordshire Hunt Sabs Manchester Hunt Sabs Herefordshire Hunt Sabs Mendip Hunt Sabs and Reading Hunt Saboteurs to pay a visit to the United Pack who met at Corndon Hill Farm, Corndon Hill, on the Shropshire/Powys border.
At 5am just as we arrived at the meet we could hear the hounds leaving the meet via the footpath at the rear. Some footsabs went in at the drive to the meet whilst others were dropped off at other points. It soon became apparent that there were no field riders, just the huntsman and whipper-in on foot, and no hunt supporters, well apart from one older chap who told us he was out photographing cows at 5am, just before he started to take photos of sabs and telling us he’d be putting them in the album… hmmm maybe stamp collecting would be a less creepy pastime?
The hunt headed over Corndon Hill losing plenty of hounds whilst doing so with sabs still on his tail and more sabs heading in to cut him off. With sabs on the hill one of the vehicles had noticed the huntsman and hounds were starting to speak at the bottom of the hill below the footsabs. The hounds were marking to ground which suggests a fox had gone to ground. But at this point the huntsman had realised he was surrounded by sabs from all the groups out. The huntsman then spent quite a while trying to round up his hounds before heading back towards the hound van parked up at Corndon Hill Farm.
The landowner had turned up as the huntsman counted the hounds back into the van. 22 couples of hounds but still had some missing. The landowner was getting a bit hot under the collar now and started trying to square up to sabs. The landowner couldn’t make his mind up whether a fox had killed 10 of his ducks the other nights or in the middle of the day 🤷♂️ maybe he needs to secure his ducks better rather than try justify illegal fox hunting. The huntsman blew his horn for sometime whilst waiting for his lost hounds before heading home unsatisfied.
Thanks for all your kind donations, we couldn’t do it without you. https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-for-the-sabbing-season?sharetype=teams&member=16556241&pc=fb_co_campmgmt_m&rcid=r01-164176372607-089ff354f02b4518&utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=p_lico%2Bshare-sheet
